Bloomin' 'eck guys! It's been a while! So sorry about that! We have been the busiest we have ever been recently, so there's a lot to fill you in on....I'll endeavour to keep it brief!
So The Company of Players' writing week was a spectacular success! By the end of the week we had 14 songs! 4 of which got recorded for a "Live From Belper" EP. We had an incredible time together and have become the absolute best of friends. Our Pledge Music campaign smashed it's £3000 target, so HUGE thanks to everyone who pledged! It means so much to us, and allows us to start working on our ALBUM which will begin in September. We are touring for a week or so next April and dates are being confirmed around the country as we speak, so keep an eye on all social media for updates. Seven of the 10 of us went up to Stratford Upon Avon to sing as part of the Shakespeare birthday celebrations which was a real treat, and our debut performance, as a 10 piece, at Bristol Folk Festival was also a really great, really successful show. Excitement and interest around the project is amazing, and we have some pretty famous names in our fanbase including Phil Beer and Mike Harding, so watch this space!
Said the Maiden wise, we had the great honour of supporting the mighty Fairport Convention up in Darwen a couple of weeks ago. What a bunch of absolute gents they are! Really welcoming and warm and funny, and very encouraging. The guy who promoted the tour date that we played on is now working as our agent (!) so we're hoping to build on our little link to Fairport and perhaps add some more exciting dates with them in the new year.
Talking of 2017. Said the Maiden are going on TOUR! YES! Our very first headline tour! We will be travelling the length and breadth of the U.K. In November next year, promoting our NEW ALBUM which we are starting work on next month! It's going to be a real mix of trad songs and original songs, plus a cover or two, and we couldn't be more excited about it! We're working on everything a little differently to how we're used to working, so it's going to be a huge learning curve (but we're used to them by now!) We're officially 'launching' the tour in December at the Great British Folk Festival in Butlins, Skegness (Which is where we met Stephen, our agent) with some new merchandise and exclusive goodies to celebrate! The next 18 months are going to be incredibly exciting, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for updates!
Until....soon, enjoy the weather and the start of festival season
